ANNOUNCEMENTS

Exactly one month ago, on November 16, we were talking about our frustration over the lack of things happening in the film industry at the moment. While we know it is for good reason, it was that day that we decided that we should make something ourselves. And so we did.

While our experience lies in acting and producing, we pooled our resources (in terms of skills and gear) and set out to see what we could accomplish.

In 3 days we will release the first of our 7 episode web series. A web series that we wrote, cast, rehearsed, designed wardrobe & props for, lit, filmed, directed, edited – and even acted in. All of this in a month, with two people (plus some amazing actors and a supportive mother) , $500, and some gear we had lying around.

WHAT DOES A COVID SAFE SET LOOK LIKE?

Well it starts with writing characters that interact virtually!
It includes filming through cell phones, web cams, and cinema cameras – using technology to direct remotely.
It requires keeping the crew as small as possible, organizing production to minimize the days actors must be on set together, and of course covid-testing anyone that must be on-set together.

While this definitely presented a lot of challenges and technological hurdles, we were able to tell Molly’s story with depth and dimension while keeping everyone safe and healthy!

A VERY COVID CHRISTMAS – CASTING

Sé Marie has been cast to play the protagonist, Molly . Sé is a professional actor with over a dozen film credits to her name – and carries the series with her magnetic performance!

Darrin Mosley Jr has been cast to play Molly’s new neighbor, and love interest, Sam. Darrin is an actor and dancer who brings his theater background, and irresistible charm to this webseries!

Alex Manalo has been cast to play ER Nurse, and BFF, Rhaena. Alex is a Pittsburgh native that shines as Rhaena, bringing heart and humour to this holiday rom-com!

PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT

AS/IF is proud to announce that their first project, an original web series titled “A Very Covid Christmas”, will premiere on their YouTube channel on December 19. Subsequent episodes of the limited series will be released daily with the finale airing on Christmas Day.

A Very Covid Christmas is a heartwarming holiday tale about Molly (Sé Marie), a young woman with a passion for baking, as she navigates life and loneliness amidst the covid-19 pandemic. Molly has been quarantined alone for most of the year, and her career and relationships both hang in the balance. Just when everything seems ruined, hope enters in the form of new neighbor, Sam (Darrin Mosley Jr). Can the magic of Christmas be saved?

The series explores themes of the sacrifices made, large and small, during a global pandemic, the hope that gets us all through, and the technology that brings us together. Molly is a representation of those who struggle daily with the small things, in an effort to simply maintain hope. As the holiday season approaches, we are all called upon to find magic in a new way this year!

WHO WE ARE

AS/IF is a filmmaking company focused on telling heartwarming stories for audiences to enjoy.

Sé Marie is a professional actress. As a member of SAG/AFTRA she has over a dozen film credits to her name. Sé brings her relentless passion for character stories, industry knowledge, and relentless energy to AS/IF!

Ally Mazzoni is a former nuclear field engineer turned film producer. Ally brings her logistical and technical know-how to AS/IF, and has been hesitantly attempting creativity.
